Riding in Prague II

The stable of Jezdecká Spolecnost Císarský Ostrov in between Troja zoo and Stomovka Park in the middle of Vltava River is nice experiment. Large stable and riding hall controls the scenery already from a long way and around it are the practise and jumping grounds. There is also a smaller stable along the bigger stable that local cart rider’s use. The location near centre is important for the grooms.

Most of the places in the stable are reserved to private horses. Owners go to practice by their own and with teachers. The riding school has surprisingly few horses in the stable, only six, which include ponies. The owner of the stable is In-Expo Group and it has another stable near Jetrichovice and from there they get reinforcement when needed. Usually there is no need for more horses, since there are only from one to three students riding in lessons. Groups in Finland are usually from six to ten.

Building of the stable took six years and it completed in early 2002. The stable was working only few months before the floods came in the spring and destroyed everything. The stable was rebuilt and already in the fall of 2002 there was first competitions in a large hall.

There are many kinds of competitions and shows in the hall. Riders can loan the horses of the stable for the competitions meant for beginners that are more unofficial. There are some day camps for children in the summer that include theory and riding lessons. The stable has also participated daily events meant for children by offering riding as one of the events.

The stable has four teachers from which some are part time workers. Teaching is very efficient because of small groups. The price of lessons are 500 Kc with schools horses and you can buy lessons for 10 and 30 times for prises of 4500 and 12 000 Kc. Those are worth consideration if you are going to spent more time in Prague. You may take lessons daily from 9 am to 7 pm but there is few hours feeding break in the afternoon. You can ride in hall, in the field and in the near by Stromovka Park.
