Kolej Hostivar 2
We have moved and this time for real but unfortunately
only to downstairs. Sixth floor became a party floor of kids who
are first time living on their own. A lot of noise and smoking
in the corridor was too much. We have heard that this is typical
in every semester. Upper floors become party floors, as downstairs
it stays relatively quiet. Incidents in upper floors happen every
semester. Even police has had to interrupt. Although staff of
Hostivars is very nice they sometimes tend to be passive towards
violations of rules. Whit in one week it has come clear to us
that in Czech there are only two kinds of officers - those who
just want to go home and don’t care and those who care just
about extra money they can make with their authority. For example
ticket inspectors of public transportation can only say one phase
in English – “Give me 400 crowns” and they continue
it until you pay (not happened to us). Well this is of course
generalizing of matter. There are a lot of perky individuals.
empty entrance hall of Kolej Hostivar
I don’t amaze the constant incidents at Kolej Hostivar.
I have much sympathy toward students living in here. This place
is far a way from city centre and there is very little to do here.
Only proper activities are Internet café downstairs, some
pubs and movie theatre. There is also sports centre but we have
not yet got familiar with it. Kolej Hostivar offers no meeting
places for kids. There are few tables in the entrance hall but
no one uses them. It would be nice if there were a clubroom for
partying all nights so that kids wouldn’t have to bother
those who like to sleep. Also it would be a good idea to train
the staff to speak English since it has become the international
language and all Erasmus students are accommodated here.
Well, we are still positive and like being here. Even though
our quest remains. Our Finnish friends have already found a quarter
for us. Vinohrady meaning Wine Castle sounds a proper place and
it comes with high recommendations. Yes, We would like to live
in a Wine Castle because We like wine a lot. Though, we have to
still check if the castle is red or white.
